Presbyterian Women (PW)
All women of the First Presbyterian Church are members of Presbyterian Women. PW raises money through various fundraisers throughout the year to support local, state, national and international needs.
Friendship and Talent

Our Friendship and Talent group meets on the second Wednesday of each month starting in March with an always delicious meal at noon, followed by devotions and a meeting.

On February 17, 1965, the Friendship and Talent Guild for women was organized. It was patterned after a similar group at the First Presbyterian Church in Muncie, IN.
The name Friendship and Talent Guild was chosen with the emphasis on friendship and the sharing of God-given talents. All newcomers to the church and friends of members are invited.
Friendship and Talent meets the second Wednesday of each month for a luncheon nine months of the year. A short business meeting with devotions follows the meal. In 1965, the lunch was 50 cents. Presently, it is $3.00-and is still the best lunch bargain in town.
The Friendship and Talent Guild has cooked, baked, cleaned, stitched, knitted, crocheted, quilted, hooked and caned its way down through the years. The results of its labors have paid for many a job of refurbishing, repainting, reupholstering, repairing, reroofing, as well as tiling, carpeting, draping and paneling.
There’s hardly a room in the church that doesn’t show some evidence of the Friendship and Talent Guild at work. This has been made possible by the sale of many aprons, quilts, hand-knit sweaters, afghans, baby items, Christmas ornaments, needlepoint items and so on, lovingly made by the members and brought to be share at each meeting.
In 1988, the group published a cookbook, and the proceeds benefitted the church building fund.
Since those years, there have been changes but the original purpose for which the Friendship and Talent Guild was created remains the same-fellowship and our gifts and talents.
“Thinking of You” cards are made and mailed to those members who are unable to join us and who need to be remembered during joyous and difficult times.
There are work sessions prior to the meeting beginning at 10:00 a.m. Throughout the year members are watchful for new and popular ideas that can be reproduced during the work sessions. Many ladies work on items at home as well. Mission Market has replaced our craft sale held in November for many years.
The Mission Market, located in Reception Hall of the church, is open after worship and by special arrangement from late September to early spring. There is an ongoing display of handcrafted items that are for sale for the purpose of supporting the mission giving of the women of the church.
