New Directions

Welcome to New Directions,  a center of services for survivors of abuse.

New Directions of Decatur County is a non-profit organization located in Greensburg, IN (pop. 11,600).  We primarily serve Decatur County, but will also serve victims in nearby counties if staff and resources are available.  The agency is overseen by a nine member Board of Directors and a current staff of one-full time Executive Director, one part-time Counselor, and two part-time Victims’ Advocates.

We strive to increase social consciousness about domestic violence and to assist individual victims to break free from the cycle of physical and emotional abuse.

New Directions is a center that provides over 75 free services to survivors of domestic violence and abuse. These confidential services are available to all adult men and women and their dependent children regardless of sex, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religion, national origin, marital status, or disability.  We have a professionally-trained staff including a Master's Level Clinician and two trained Victims’ Advocates. Our friendly staff will listen to the victim, learn about their unique situation, and then help them develop a plan of action.

We will not judge!  Instead, we will find ways to help!

Whether the victim is in the crisis stage of immediate violence or on the long road of healing from past abuse, they are not alone!  Leaving an abusive relationship is difficult but not impossible!

If you need help, please contact us to discuss important safety planning if you are considering leaving your abuser.

We are here to help you at this stressful and challenging time!  We care about YOU!

Please call our 24-hour crisis line at (812) 662-8822 if you or someone you know is experiencing abuse. You can also receive help by calling the National Domestic Crisis Line at (800) 799-SAFE or (800) 799-7233.

If you are in immediate danger, please call 911.
